My name is Hemali and I’m a high school student in Northwest Arkansas. I have been impacted by food allergies ever since I was a toddler, having been diagnosed with an egg allergy at an early age. We all thought I had grown out of it, but we found out I was still allergic to eggs and had developed an allergy to garlic after numerous tests, food journals, and elimination diets when I was approximately seven. This process took months and I always wondered how other kids were diagnosed. Did they have to go through this tedious process? My question was never answered until the summer of 2020 when I reached out to parents of kids with food allergies and the kids themselves. This kind and welcoming community told me how they diagnosed their allergies, how they overcame their allergies, and what they went through. You can see their responses here.  I’m very interested in increasing access to the amazing food allergy resources on the internet and connecting the food allergy community both online and in my hometown.
